FRUIT-BASED OILS: AVOCADO

Avocado Oils are extracted from the flesh of the avocado fruit. Avocado Oils are awesome for cooking and grilling — especially at high heat — and also work great in marinades + dressings. The taste is quite subtle, light and “clean”.

COOKING WITH AVOCADO OILS: Depending on the Brand, Avocado Oils have Medium High to High smoke points. ‘Smoke Point’ is a term to designate the moment at which an oil begins to break down while cooking and turns to smoke. Many oils are too fragile to withstand high temperatures and they burn. Burned oil may taste bad and — through the burning — harmful elements are formed.

HIGH SMOKE POINT: There is conflicting information online about the exact smoke points (ranging from Low to High) for all of the different cooking oils, so I am reluctant to print them here. What we do know is that Avocado Oils have a High Smoke Point with a range of Medium High to High; each Brand has slightly different information about specific smoke points on their Web site which you can easily correlate with your cooking style to determine which one is ideal for medium high to high heat applications like grilling and sautéing.

EXTRA VIRGIN AVOCADO OILS: All Extra Virgin oils are from the first pressings of the fruits or nuts or seeds — this is what defines them as Extra Virgin.. In this case, these Extra Virgin Avocado Oils are from the first pressings of avocados >> the oils which come out of the fruits the first time they are pressed down upon.
