WHAT'S IN PEPSICO'S AUNT JEMIMA ORIGINAL LITE SYRUP?
SYRUP - CLOSEST TO HOMEMADE™
There are two kinds of syrup we love to pour on things like waffles and pancakes:
1. Pure real maple syrup comes from Maple Trees.
2. Other syrups are made from sweeteners like Sugar Cane or, more likely, the cheapest sweeteners, Sugar Beets and Corn.
According to Statista, Aunt Jemima was the #1 most used brand of syrup in the U.S. in 2017. (Source: Statista 2018)
Aunt Jemima is owned by PepsiCo.
AUNT JEMIMA LITE SYRUP IS FLAVORED + COLORED HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP + WATER THICKENED WITH CELLULOSE GUM WITH PRESERVATIVES: Ingredients are always listed in descending order of amount >> there is the most amount of the ingredient listed first and the least amount of the ingredient listed last.

The majority of ingredients are NIK™ >> Not In Kitchen ingredients are those which we would not have in our kitchens if we were making syrup from scratch like thickeners, coloring, preservatives, water, and commercial sweeteners like High Fructose Corn Syrup.
The Center for Science in the Public Interest recommends all people avoid Caramel Color. (Source: CSPI Web site 8/18)
According to the U.S. FDA 8/18, Sodium Hexametaphosphate (the last ingredient listed) is a corrosion inhibitor.
